Hey Reader, I spend a lot of time analyzing how change goes wrong. How launches fail. How new initiatives fizzle. How transformations flop. I see it happen in the news and on LinkedIn. I hear about it from colleagues, collaborators, and clients. I put in long hours trying to correct it when I’m brought in on projects and programs that aren’t hitting their goals (honestly the hardest work – and I’m kind of over it). But it doesn’t have to be this way. I know change is not easy. Things won’t go to plan. Mistakes will be made. Pivots and backtracks will happen. Because of the nature of change, especially these days, things will be messy. But they don’t have to fail, fizzle, or flop. They don’t have to cause distress, create confusion, or erode trust. Even when changes are not good or popular, the strategy can be done well. And a well-crafted strategy is most effective when it’s built on a solid foundation. This foundation is something that so many organizations lack. And it’s why their changes nose-dive. It’s like investing in a fancy car, but forgetting to include the wheels. You're going nowhere! That’s why, all next year, I’m focusing my newsletter and content on developing a culture of change readiness, building overall change capability, and expanding organizational capacity for change.I’ll share the key tools, methods, and areas to focus on when it comes to developing change readiness and, most importantly, how change readiness is not just a thing to do but a way to be. I’ll explore what skills and abilities help catalyze change and how leaders, employees, and teams can empower one another to build their change capability. And I’m going to dig into the most impactful decisions leaders of organizations and teams can make when it comes to expanding the change capacity of their companies and nonprofits. I'm opening up the vault to share everything I've got that will help organizations get change ready, because I want the folks in my network – the ones out there doing the good work – to achieve their missions. So this is most likely my last newsletter of the year as I hunker down to guide my current client projects through the winter season and build out all of the content and resources I have in store for you next year. I think 2025 is going to be a bit of a wild ride, and I want you to be as ready as you’ll ever be. Talk soon, Caitlin Harper P.S. – Know a leader who would benefit from developing a culture of change readiness, building their overall change capability, and expanding their organizational capacity for change?
